Physical Barrier Containment's for Mold Remediation
8/19/2019 (Permalink)
After setting up a HEPA Filtered Negative Air machine in a contained area, a physical barrier must be established.
This is generally specified by a Mold Assessment Consultant and is usually done with 6 mil plastic. The main goal in installing a physical barrier is to isolate the work area from any adjacent, non-affected areas. A zipper door is installed to allow technicians in and out to perform remediation activities.
Once the containment is in place, the HEPA Filtered Negative Air machine is turned on and will quickly establish a negative pressure environment. The air pressure in the contained area will be less than that of the outside area. If the zipper door is opened, the air from the outside will rush in, making it virtually impossible for any mold spores to escape the contained area.
