Containment of Mold Affected Area
When an area in a home has been designated as an affected area, it must be separated or contained from the unaffected areas of the home.
When setting up containment of the work area, the first step is to install a HEPA Filtered Negative Air machine. HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. It will remove 99.7 % of particulates in the air down to 3 microns. Most mold spores are 3-100 microns in size. A cross section of a human hair is approximately 50 microns.
The HEPA Filtered Negative Air Machine is a fan that will pull air from the affected area and exhaust the contaminated air outside of the structure using vinyl ducting. Doing this will draw the airborne mold spores away from the space , creating a negative pressure environment in which the mold spores will not be able to escape in to unaffected areas.
